A Featured Zine from The Soapbox Library: “My Fourty Nine Hours at Wal-Mart”

This zine tells the tale of Mark Dixon’s experience and reflections that occurred during 49 consecutive hours spent at the big blue behemoth known as Walmart. Dixon began his occupancy on the day after Thanksgiving in 2001, and the zine showcases photographs, overheard conversations, and a review of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton’s autobiography. Dixon’s descent into the darkness of  the holiday shopping season at one of America’s largest chain stores gives us a humorous yet unfortunate assessment of the advantages and perils in our consumer culture based society.
