Animated Text .gifs
March 1, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Illustrative text is a powerful form of art. Animating that text can take your message to the next level. This workshop will introduce you to this technique, introducing you to Procreate 5 on an iPad or tablet. Artist Dre Grigoropol will take you through the entire process, from start to finish. Participants will work through exercises to get you inspired, learn Dre’s tips and tricks to speed up your workflow, discuss easy ways to find inspiration, and learn how to save your animation so you can post it to a website, Facebook, or Instagram. This class is perfect for beginners, as well as those looking for inspiration. Participants are asked to have their own tablet and stylus, and to ProCreate 5 before the class. This online class requires students to have a device to join the class with reliable internet access.
“With no prior experience ever making art on an iPad before, I decided to sign up for a .gif making class with Dre Grigoropol. Even though I had an out-of-date program, Dre was patient and able to come up with workarounds so I still left the class with a brand new skill! The class was fun, interactive, and was taught in a manner that accommodated people of all different skill levels. As a teacher, Dre was encouraging, enthusiastic, and open with sharing her own experience learning gif-making, as well as with what resources or materials she would suggest. Even after the class, she answered my questions and helped me work through tech issues. Ten out of ten, I would highly recommend taking a class with her!” -Workshop Participant

$15 Community / $30 Cost of Workshop / $45 Sponsor
In an effort to keep workshops accessible to as many as possible, while compensating our instructors fairly and covering Soapbox costs, we’re pleased to offer a sliding scale. Our “Cost of Workshop” rate is the real cost of our workshop, and we need most people to register at this rate to run the workshop. For those who are able, please consider selecting the “Sponsor” rate to allow someone who cannot afford the real cost to participate. If you are someone experiencing hardship, please register at the “Community” rate. In evaluating where you fall on the scale, we ask you to consider the difference between sacrifice (making trade-offs in my discretionary spending) vs. hardship (paying full cost for this workshop prevents me from meeting basic needs).
