Innovative Stab Binding Structures – FULL

February 6, 2019, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Registration now full. Join our waitlist.

Stab bindings can be enormously creative and visually distinctive. Learn or review a basic 4-hole stab binding. Then, learn a custom variation, Becca Hirsbrunner’s Star Binding, and discuss how to develop your own patterns. This workshop builds skills for those who have worked with the stab binding before, while being approachable for beginners.

About the instructor:
TERESA SILVA is a self-taught artist who works primarily in paper and thread. Her artistic work engages with the hidden and the unknowable-exploring function and/or femininity through a personally feminist lens. Her handbound books usually feature the binding technique as the focus point and she experiments often with her own variations of exposed bindings. She also works in linoleum/block printing and embroidery. Currently working on her archaeology doctorate, Teresa has been working on quite a few projects lately in a couple of different places. You can find her online at instagram.com/unwornworld.
