Intro to Desktop Publishing for Zines & Books
May 30, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm| 35/30
Learn the ins and outs of producing a zine digitally using freely available desktop publishing software with artist and zine-maker Corey Bechelli. While collaborating on an 8-page zine, use source files to lay out text and images, determine correct imposition, and review the various file formats needed to generate a print-ready document. Support your work in zine and book making by exploring free digital tools such as Scribus to create electronic files for printing commercially or at home. Participants are asked to bring their own devices and to install specific programs before the event.
Corey Bechelli draws comics, makes zines, and has been a professional graphic designer for over 10 years. He has a wealth of experience designing for print, creating everything from commercially printed booklets to hand-cut and assembled zines. He has displayed his work at zine fests, comic shows, and art book fairs throughout the country.
