Intro to Hand Papermaking

March 3, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

| $35
Beginning with the mould and deckle, learn the basics of Western hand papermaking: the tools and materials used, the properties of various paper pulps, and the art of pulling sheets of paper. Participants will create 5-10 blank sheets of beautiful handmade paper from cotton and abaca fibers, some with inclusions (embedded flat objects). These papers, once dry, can be used for bookmaking, printmaking, drawing, or they can be finished works of art on their own!
Handmade paper takes 24 hours to dry. Participants can pick up their finished papers at the next Open Hours (or have the option to take wet sheets home).
