Make a Zine! Workshop: History, Culture, and Creation
January 16, 2019, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Dive into the history and culture of zine making and punk community and then create your own zine. We’ll look at a wide variety of handmade publications from The Soapbox’s library for inspiration, then warm up with writing exercises and creative brainstorming. You will learn two simple but clever paper folding techniques that you can use that day and in your future zine publishing endeavors. All materials – glue sticks, stencils, clip art, colored pencils, glitter, and more! – will be provided. With Katie Haegele.
Katie Haegele is a writer and longtime zine maker from Philadelphia. She runs a zine library and show series at the East Falls Zine Reading Room. To read some of her writing, sign up for the EFZRR mailing list, and order (or trade!) zines, please visit her online at www.thelalatheory.com.
