Programming updates in light of COVID-19

Updated March 17, 2020

Dear Soapbox Community —

Like many of you, we at The Soapbox have been monitoring our changing public health landscape over the past week.

In order to best care for our community and those most vulnerable, we are suspending our public programming through April 12. We will evaluate our calendar after April 12 in a few weeks. At present, we continue to provide services for our members, many of whom rely on our studio as part of their livelihood, with modifications where required. We understand that caring, community, and self-expression are critical in stressful times and encourage you to keep creating at home, be in touch with friends and family by call or – bonus – by good old-fashioned letter, and please reach out to us to ask questions or share what you’ve been up to.

The details:

  • Workshops and events today through April 12 are cancelled or postponed. If you’ve registered for one of these workshops, we will be in touch separately about cancellations, rescheduling, and refunds.
  • Open Hours will be closed to the public for visitation, to reduce gathering and public transit use. More information for current members can be found here.
  • Our next Membership Information Session will be held by conference call. Studio orientations for new members will not be available until workshops resume.
  • We will be reviewing Fellows applications over the next few days and will be in touch with all applicants soon.

We will be looking for ways to connect online over the coming few weeks, and we look forward to gathering together in person when the time comes.

In the meanwhile, we wish each of you a healthy and safe spring.
