In honor of our STEP UP THE SOAPBOX campaign to support our expansion, we’d like to tell you about some of our members.
Katie Haegele sat down with Work Exchange Member Dre Grigoropol. Dre will be reading at this Saturday’s Dance for The Soapbox Zine Reading and Dance Party.
How did you learn about The Soapbox?
I heard about it via word of mouth through other zine makers and then I found myself going to The Soapbox’s website to learn more. Then, I ended up meeting the co-founder Mary Tasillo at the Scranton Zine Fest, which was followed up with visits to the venue for a art show reception and zine reading.
What’s your area of specialty / background in art?
My background in art includes cartoon art, illustration, pen and ink and digital art.
What project are you proudest of that you made or worked on at The Soapbox? Do you have a photo of it that you’d like to share?
One of my favorite projects that was worked on at The Soapbox was when I printed a logo I designed for website Comix Gab. I made prints, patches, and printed the image on apparel. Another favorite project was when I printed posters for the Philly Zine Fest using the letter press sign maker.
