The Soapbox Status Update

The Soapbox Status Update

Updated September 1, 2020

The Soapbox is operating at partial capacity right now. To support the safety of our community, we’ve prioritized studio access for existing members who can work on a Keyholder model. We are currently evaluating our capacity to orient and welcome new members in the studio, given the limits we’ve placed on number of individuals working in the shared studio at any given time. We have an exciting line-up of online programming this fall, from Pandemic Screenprinting to monthly postcard exchanges to mask sewing, Philly Zine Fest Online, and more.

We miss seeing you in the studio, and look forward to adding in-person workshops, gatherings, and Open Hours back to our calendar when it becomes safe to do so, from a perspective of caution in respect for the at-risk members of our community.

Stay tuned as we continue to evolve new ways to share resources with you during this strange time.

As a non-profit organization on a shoe-string budget, we are operating at a loss during this period. Workshop and studio membership fees make up 43% of our revenue. For those who are not experiencing income loss and would like to invest in our sustainability, your donation is very much appreciated at this time. We understand that not everyone is able at this time, and that there are many critical community needs at present.

Please do not hesitate to be in touch about how you are doing, how we can support you during this time, or your ideas for how we can support you and our community in the future when we’re able to gather together again.

Sincerely, with all the best wishes for your health and well-being,

The Soapbox
