Hello Fellow Soapboxer Members!
It’s that time of year again when we start thinking about sweaters, chilly days and making our Soapbox Community Collaborative Calendar! (Say that ten times fast!)
Our calendar contributes to the Soapbox in myriad ways: it brings us together as creatives to make something fun, it helps fund our studios and programming, and it’s great way to come together in the the space making a super cool thing!
We are calling on those of you who are feeling the itch to EDITION. Have a great idea for a compelling, inviting eye-candy image for a specific month? Want to put your skills to the test to print this image 100 times? Sign up!
This calendar sets the tone for what we want the world to see from our studio and we are asking the participants really put their ALL into this. Let’s have rich multi-color screen prints, letterpress images that inspire us on the daily, & relief images with such great texture that we can’t resist touching.
We will be printing a fairly large edition, so plan a print that is doable, but make it be the best it can be and only commit if you can.
Marisha will also be offering support in the form of an editioning workshop (if folks are interested and can let us know for scheduling), sharing some tips to make your editioning process as efficient and smooth as possible.
•Edition size: 100
•Effective page size will be 8.5” x 8.5”, image size can be smaller
•Each participant will print on the back of the calendar grid from the previous month, (this makes out calendar more compact, easy to ship and easy to hang)
•Sign-up deadline is October 1, DUE DATE for finished prints November 1.
•We will provide you the paper with pre-printed Calendar grids available at the end of September. We will be using a fairly heavy cover stock, so RISO and other digital means of printing will not be appropriate for this project.
•You will sign and number your prints so that our audience knows they are getting a limited edition print and who the amazing artist is that did it.
•You will get a copy of the calendar as a small token of gratitude for your contribution.
We look forward to your signing up and taking on this task to help us with our fundraising and community building efforts.
The calendar is always an exciting surprise and our audience looks forward to it every year.
As always, thanks for your support.
